The data center market in Asia is booming, fueled by cloud services, the Internet of Things (IoT), and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence. While Singapore, Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong dominate as “Tier 1” data center hubs, Malaysia is emerging as a strong contender in the “Tier 2” category.

According to The Edge article, Malaysia has untapped potential to become a data center hub. With a high internet penetration rate (96.8%) and a growing population, and by 2025, Malaysia aims to transform into an “Asian Digital Tiger” by 2025, leveraging its data center growth.

Investment Inflow for data center in Malaysia is expected to attract US$2.25Billion in 2025 after received RM76 Billion (US$16billion) in data center investment between 2021 and March 2023.
